A Hot New Board Game
Amy Eagle, Chicago Tribune
CHICAGO, Ill., Dec. 22 '04, pg.3 — While playing board games that night
(Musician
Kari
Epstein)
said, she thought of creating a “cheeky irreverent” game to help
women learn about menopause. She formed a company, Dream On LLC, and developed
Hotflash! The Menopause Game.
Musician Kari Epstein, 45, was vacationing in 2002 when she had her first hot
flash; it turned out to be a flash of inspiration.
“
It totally floored me!” said Epstein, of Denver. “I finally got
it-what all the fuss was about.”
She was surprised by the intensity of the experience, and to be affected so
young. “I
thought that was for fifty somethings,” she said.
While playing board games that night, Epstein said, she thought of creating
a “cheeky,
irreverent” game to help women learn about menopause. She formed a company,
Dream On LLC, and developed Hotflash! The Menopause Game.
In the game, two to eight players try to reach Hormone-free Haven without falling
into PMS Purgatory or falling down the Fallopian Tubes through Weepy Way, Forgetful
Forest or Lustless Lane. Facts about women and menopause are woven into the game.
“
It’s a fun way for women to learn, share and commiserate in this experience,” Epstein
said.
The game is available for $29.98 at www.hotflashgame.com or call 877-482-0125
Dream On, LLC was formed in May 2003 and Hotflash!® is the
one subsidiary of the company.
